Dental colorations

The enamel of the tooth is slightly porous, tobacco, tea, coffee, some mouthwashes can give your teeth an unsightly stain.

My teeth are stained, what to do?

Food colorings (coffee, tea, wine …), nicotine and certain pharmaceutical products (mouthwash with chlorhexidine, iron-based medication, …) color frequently tartar, teeth and dental restorations made with resin. This results in a very unsightly appearance of the teeth.

A daily oral hygiene, regular cleanings associated with tooth polishing generally allow to solve this problem.

It is not recommended against by using abrasive toothpaste that may scratch the surface of teeth and indirectly accelerate the emergence of new colorings.

If these spots correspond to small defects of enamel, your dentist may suggest the technique of micro abrasion technique to erase the stains on the surface.

I do not want amalgam, can you offer me something more aesthetic?

In some cases it is possible to replace amalgam fillings by composite resins. However different techniques to consider depending on the importance of caries.

If it is small in volume, your practitioner will realize its composite directly during the session.

However, for large cavities weakening the tooth, it is preferable to manufacture reinforced composite from a footprint of the cavity (inlay or onlay).

I have a dead tooth that blackens. Are there a solution to lighten it?

If the tooth is not too shabby your dentist may suggest an internal bleaching to lighten it.

Bleaching is a technique used to clear the internal color of the teeth to give them a shine and a more attractive sheen.

This technique consists in depositing the product within the tooth. After a few days, a clarification will appear and the renewal of the product is possible, this until the desired outcome.

Whenever possible the elimination of the coloring substance is the best solution.

If clarification of a devitalized tooth, it is carried out protection of the root of the tooth and the gingiva nearby.
