Brushing alone removes only 50% of plaque. It is therefore essential to supplement its action with brushes or dental floss.
The spaces between the teeth, also called interdental areas, are inaccessible to the bristles of the toothbrush. As a result, most caries and gum problems begin to develop in these areas.
To avoid these problems, clean these hard-to-reach areas and maintain optimal oral hygiene, interdental brushing is strongly recommended. This interdental brushing removes 24% of additional dental plaque.
In case of problems with gums, periodontitis, orthodontic appliance or prosthesis, this brushing will also be recommended.
Two simple ways:
The interdental brush: a kind of small brush, it allows an easy cleaning of the wide spaces, especially in the patients who have a teeth shaving.
Dental floss: it is recommended in people who have a very n space between their teeth. It should be used with caution to avoid injuring the gums. The brush and dental l are used after brushing the teeth.
As a complementary tool, the dental plaque dye makes it possible to clearly identify the dental plaque to check that it has indeed been eliminated (available in pharmacy only).
